Product & Ingredients
What ingredients do you use in your meals?
We use a diverse range of over 50 plant-based ingredients, quality proteins, whole grains, and nutrient-rich herbsto create balanced, flavour-packed meals. Each recipe is designed to introduce babies and toddlers to exciting flavours, essential nutrients, and a variety of textures to support their growth and development.
Are your meals organic?
Where possible we source organic. While we are not 100% organic, we carefully source high-quality, fresh ingredients with a focus on nutrient density, flavour, and variety. Our priority is to use the best available produce, ensuring a balance between nutrition, accessibility, and sustainability.
What age are your meals suitable for?
Our meals are designed for babies from 6 months+, supporting both traditional weaning and baby-led weaning (BLW). The textures and ingredients suit different developmental stages:
✔ 6+ months – Soft, easy-to-mash textures for early food introduction.
✔ 9+ months – More variety in texture to encourage chewing and independent eating.
✔ 12+ months – Nutrient-dense, flavourful meals suitable for toddlers transitioning to family-style eating.
Every child develops at their own pace, so we recommend introducing meals based on your baby’s readiness and comfort with solids. If unsure, consult your paediatrician or healthcare professional for personalised guidance.
Are your meals suitable for baby-led weaning (BLW)?
Yes! Our meals are designed for both traditional weaning and baby-led weaning (BLW). Since BLW is about sensory exploration, our meals are soft-textured and suitable from 6 months, depending on your baby’s development. They can also be mashed with a fork for a smoother consistency if needed.
What does "Good Source Of" mean?
Under Australian food standards, a food must contain at least 25% of the recommended daily intake (RDI) of a nutrient to be classified as a "Good Source Of" that nutrient.
What essential nutrients do SARI meals provide?
We worked with a paediatric nutritionist to create meals that provide a Good Source Of essential nutrients, ensuring your baby receives the vitamins and minerals needed for healthy growth, brain development, and immunity.
Each meal in our range contains at least one or more of these key nutrients:
✔ Iron – Supports brain development and prevents iron deficiency. Many of our meals are a Good Source of Iron, including Beef Bolognaise with Marrow, Lamb Pilaf, Shepherd’s Pie, Spinach & Tofu Dhal, and Sweet Beet Quinoa.
✔ Zinc – Strengthens the immune system and supports metabolism (Found in Spinach & Tofu Dhal, Sweet Beet Quinoa, and Beef Bolognaise with Marrow)
✔ Vitamin A – Essential for vision, skin health, and immune function (Included in Shepherd’s Pie, Mexican Chicken, and Lamb Pilaf)
✔ Vitamin B12 – Supports brain function and red blood cell production (Try Beef Bolognaise with Marrow, Salmon Risotto, and Lamb Pilaf)
✔ Vitamin C – Boosts immunity and helps absorb iron (Available in Sweet Beet Quinoa, Coconut Lentil Curry, and Lamb Pilaf)
✔ Omega-3 Fatty Acids – Crucial for brain development and cognitive function (Packed into our Salmon Risotto)
Each of our meals contains a unique combination of essential nutrients to support your baby’s development. You can find the specific "Good Source Of" claims listed under each product on our website or try them all with our All-In Bundle.
How do you ensure these meals meet the "Good Source Of" standard?
Our meals were developed in collaboration with a paediatric nutritionist, ensuring they meet Australian food regulations and provide at least 25% of the recommended daily intake for the nutrients claimed.
By focusing on nutritionally dense, high-quality ingredients, we create meals that support optimal growth, brain development, and long-term health for babies and toddlers.
How can I adjust the texture of your meals?
Our meals have soft, fork-mashable textures, making them easy to adapt based on your baby’s stage and preferences. If you’d like a creamier consistency, you can:
✔ Mash with a fork for a smoother texture.
✔ Stir in yoghurt, breast milk, or puréed vegetables for a richer, creamier consistency.
How much should my baby eat?
Portion sizes vary, but a general guide is:
✔ 6–9 months: 2–4 tablespoons per meal
✔ 9–12 months: ¼–½ cup per meal
✔ 12+ months: ½–1 cup per meal
Can I split one meal into multiple servings?
Yes! Our meals are designed in a convenient cup size, making them easy to:
✔ Defrost and serve half at a time (must be used within 24 hours after defrosting)
✔ Use as a side dish for toddlers & split between kids
✔ Provide more variety by offering different meals in smaller portions
Can I mix SARI meals with other foods?
Yes! While our meals are already packed with variety, you can adjust textures and introduce hand-eye coordination skills by pairing them with finger foods. Some ideas:
✔ Pair our vegetarian meals with our meatballs for extra protein
- Add a Chimichurri Meatball to Sweet Beet Quinoa
- Serve a Greek Chicken Meatball with Coconut Lentil Curry
✔ Serve meatballs with dips & pita bread for independent eating
✔ Offer soft or firm vegetable sticks depending on your baby’s age
Do your meals contain allergens?
Some of our meals contain common allergens, including:
✔ Beef Bolognaise – Contains wheat (gluten)
✔ Shepherd’s Pie – Contains butter (milk)
✔ Salmon Risotto – Contains butter (milk)
✔ Spinach & Tofu Dhal – Contains tofu (soy)
We list full ingredients on our packaging and website so you can make informed choices. If your child has allergies, please check the ingredients before ordering.
Research suggests that early introduction of common allergens (such as dairy, soy, wheat, and eggs) may help reduce the risk of developing food allergies later in life. Our meals are designed to introduce a variety of ingredients and flavours in a safe and balanced way, supporting your child’s immune system and tolerance development.
If you have any concerns about introducing allergens, we recommend consulting your paediatrician or healthcare professional for personalised guidance.
Are your meals paediatric dietitian-approved?
Yes! Our menu was developed in collaboration with a paediatric dietitian to ensure it meets the nutritional needs of babies and toddlers at every stage.
Preparation & Storage
How should I store SARI meals?
Our meals are freshly made and snap-frozen to lock in nutrients and flavour. Keep them frozen at -18°C until ready to use.
How long do your meals last in the freezer?
Our meals can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months. Each product includes an expiry date on the packaging, so always check before use.
How do I prepare the meals?
Our meals are designed for quick and easy preparation:
All preparation instructions are included on the product label. We recommend using the microwave for quick and even heating:
- Microwave: Remove lid and heat for 1 minute. Stir and heat for another 30 seconds. Repeat in 30 second blocks until desired temperature is reached.
Always check the temperature before serving to ensure it’s safe for your little one.
Can leftovers be reheated?
Yes, but with some precautions:
- Leftovers should be stored in the fridge and consumed within 24 hours.
- Reheat only once and ensure the food is steaming hot before serving.
- Discard any uneaten portions that have already been reheated.
For food safety, we do not recommend saving or reheating food that has already been offered to your baby, as bacteria can grow from saliva exposure.
Can I refreeze meals once they’ve been defrosted?
For food safety reasons, we do not recommend refreezing meals once they have been fully thawed.
Do I need to add anything to the meals before serving?
No, our meals are nutritionally complete on their own. However, you can adjust the texture based on your baby’s stage of eating:
- For a smoother consistency: Mash with a fork or stir in a little yoghurt, breast milk, formula, or puréed vegetables to make it creamier.
- For baby-led weaning: Serve as-is or in small, soft pieces for little hands to explore.
We provide pairing suggestions under each product, but we encourage parents to be creative and adapt meals in a way that’s convenient for them.

Packaging & Materials
Is your packaging recyclable?
We aim to use eco-conscious packaging wherever possible while ensuring your meals arrive fresh and safe. Here’s how to dispose of each component:
- Meal Pouches – Made from recycled plastic and can be recycled with soft plastics at a REDcycle drop-off point.
- Cardboard Box – Fully recyclable and can go in your household recycling bin.
- Paper Tape – No need to remove it! Our tape is recyclable along with the box.
- Box Liners – Designed to keep food cold, these can be recycled with soft plastics.
- Gel Ice Packs – Contain super absorbent gel to keep your meals fresh. We recommend reusing them or checking with your local council for disposal advice.
How should I dispose of the gel ice packs?
Our gel packs contain a super absorbent cooling gel. While we recommend reusing them for picnics, lunchboxes, or coolers, if you need to dispose of them:
- Do not pour the gel down the sink as it may cause blockages.
- Some councils accept gel packs for disposal—check your local waste guidelines.
- If allowed, you can cut open the pack, dispose of the gel in general waste, and recycle the plastic film with soft plastics.
Why aren’t all components recyclable?
Our priority is to keep your baby’s meals fresh and safe while reducing environmental impact. While not all materials can currently be recycled, we are constantly exploring more sustainable options to improve our packaging.
